Avian Adoration

Whatever the reason, in the last 5 years of my life I’ve become increasingly infatuated with birds, without a recognisable cue, but I think it can comfortably put it down to realising how hard it is to shoot birds. Being challenged is something that has often defined my subject matter over the years.  This initial intrigue piqued my interest entirely when I began to read about their intelligence.  In saying that, I can’t help but think my exposure to Australia’s bird-life, particularly a friendship I had with a magpie, was what probably founded this long winded emotional journey.  It’s hard not to love a magpie that lets themselves in through the dog door, and the family that presided over the patch that was our backyard.
